VINELAND -- The Enterprise Zone Development Corporation of Vineland/Millville approved an application for a $200,000 loan for purchase of the business and equipment of The PaperWaiter Restaurant at its Thursday meeting.
The business, which includes the Heritage House catering hall adjacent to Wheaton Village, is being purchased by Jorge and Edith Rodriguez and Arnold and Andrea Schiller.
"The Heritage House is the only banquet facility in the city of Millville and I'm really pleased that the transfer of ownership will mean it will stay within the community. Jorge has been with the WIsneski family, the current owners, for a number of years and it will be a seamless transition," said Millville Mayor James Quinn.
The loan, at 5 percent for 10 years, will go toward a $500,000 total purchase price.
Vineland's application for $60,000 in Zone Assistance Funds for the purchase of tax liens on the Landis Theater/Mori Brothers property on Landis Avenue was approved. The movie theater has been closed since 1987 and has been owned by the Landis Theatre Redevelopment Association since 1996. That organization has been unable to restore the property.
The city wants to foreclose on the property and begin steps to redevelop it.
Vineland's application for $161,813 in Zone Assistance Funds also was approved. The funds will support the operation of the Vineland Downtown Improvement District for 2005.
"This is our annual budget," explained Vineland Mayor Perry Barse.
For the month of December, Zone Administrator Sandi Zapolski reported eight new participating businesses in Millville and five in Vineland.
Millville's new participants are Veterinary Analytical Services, 412 Wade Blvd., a veterinary diagnostic laboratory; Kejzman Enterprises, 1601 S. 2nd St., real estate management; Millville Tire, 1510 Wheaton Ave., auto repair and tire sales; B J Roasters, 231 N. Broad St., offices for management and marketing of motorsports park and Group SEB USA Inc., 2121 Eden Road, distribution and manufacturing of household goods.
